Japanese Particles Song and Particles Notes

  1. はWA : がGA : にNI : でDE : にNI : でDE : のNO
  2. はWA : がGA : にNI : でDE : にNI : でDE : とTO
  3. はWA - it tells the topic of our sentence
  4. がGA - a stronger form of はWA
  5. にNI - is where we're going to
  6. でDE - is what we're going to use
  7. にNI - is where we're being at (あります・います)
  8. でDE - is where we're doing at (action verb!)
  9. のNO - is how we join two nouns
  10. And the object of our verb is をO, をO, をO, をO
  11. はWA - it tells the topic of our sentence
  12. がGA - a stronger form of はWA
  13. にNI - is where we're going to
  14. でDE - is what we're going to use
  15. にNI - is where we're being at (あります・います)
  16. でDE - is where we're doing at (action verb!)
  17. とTO - is who we're doing with
  18. And the object of our verb is をO, をO, をO, をO

A. Copy the lyrics to "The Japanese Particle Song" into your notebook. 

B. Copy the list of Particle Types:

  1.  はWA - (main) subject particle
  2.  がGA - (special) subject particle
  3.  にNI - "to a place" particle (going directly)
  4.  でDE - "tool" particle (using a thing)
  5.  にNI - "static location" particle (passive)
  6.  でDE - "active location" particle (active)
  7.  のNO - possessive particle (join two nouns, "of", show ownership)
  8.  をO - object particle
  9.  とTO - "with" particle (also "quotative particle")
C. Copy the sentences below and then underline and identify all the particle types in each:

 1. おれ は ゴムゴム の み を くった。
  ( I ate the rubber fruit. )
 2. オレンジ が すき です。
  ( I like oranges. )
 3. てがみ を て で かきます。
  ( I will write the letter by hand. )
