GRAMMAR POINT TWO: Possessives with の

だれ　＝ who

だれの　＝ whose

わたしのN　＝ my noun

わたしのです。＝ it’s mine

あなたのN　＝ your noun

あなたのです。　＝ it’s yours

かれのN　＝ his noun

かれのです。＝ it’s his

かのじょのN　＝ her noun

かのじょのです。＝ it’s hers

 PRACTICE PROBLEMS:

1. Is this book yours or mine?

ANS: この本はあなたのですか、わたしのですか。

2. Is that pencil (over there) his?

ANS: あのえんぴつはかれのですか。

3. That pen is not mine.

ANS: そのペンはわたしのじゃありません。(polite/regular tone)

ANS: 。。。。。。。。。ではありません。(formal/academic tone)
